Staying in Houma! 11/4/14

Hey there mom, dad, and family! Well I will just let you know first off. I am staying here in Houma! Also I will be staying with Elder Puefua again! I am very happy about this. We get along so well and a lot of good things are happening here in Houma! The only thing I am a little nervous about is next transfer now. It is a week before Christmas so who knows where I will be! But every other companionship is having 1 companion gone from this district. Elder Southward is leaving as well and Elder Joubert and Sister Allen. We will also be getting 2 new fresh missionaries that will be trained here. So that will be fun! I was pretty nervous about this transfer for some reason, but now I am relieved. Thank goodness!

Well it sounds like you guys are having a lot of fun right now being in Disneyland! Those Fam trips are so fun. Make sure you have a ton of fun for me too! And I am so glad this email is working! I got all of your videos and pictures! It is an answer to my prayers that is for sure. I think it was kind of bringing me down a little bit not being able to get emails from you  guys as much. What can I say. I am a mommas and daddys boy. :) The house is looking so good! It looks like a huge project. I am excited to see it when it is all done! Keep me updated on how it is going and also pictures! :) And I can't believe Ry and Keelie have already moved into their home. It seems like just yesterday they started building it. And then also with Dan and Brit being able to move out so fast and finally get there home sold is so awesome! Where are they living until then? Up at the house with you and dad? That sounds pretty fun! And man it is crazy that Halloween has already come and gone. It went by so fast this year. Next year we will all be together again! :) I remember the Halloween when Dave and I were out dancing on our porch before all of the trick or treaters came. Those are good memories. I am glad everyone is safe and sound. That was my hope and prayer! :)

This week has flown by so fast. Nothing too new has happened. We have just been trying to find new people to teach. Right now we actually have 0 investigators so it has been pretty tough. We have a lot of Potential Investigators though which is good. We have a few appointments set up for this upcoming week. It has been kind of cool at the same time because we have really focused on the Less Active members and the active members as well. We are trying to strengthen our relationships with them so we can get a few referrals from them. That would be pretty legit! We have also been doing other finding activities which we haven't seen much success from yet, but I know we will soon!

So for Halloween we had a great night! We were on lockdown again, but this time we could go over to a member’s house. This made it a lot more fun! We went over to the Voisins house all of us missionaries. She ordered us some pizza and we just pigged out and had a blast. We played soccer all night pretty much as well with some of the kids. They only had maybe 10 trick or treaters. Which I thought was weird because they live in a very nice neighborhood! But after all of the soccer we played a game together and then had an awesome spiritual lesson with them. After the lesson that is when she put the wigs on us and took our pictures. She did it to every missionary. It was a lot of fun! :)

Then on Saturday we helped a member with a birthday party. We again had pizza... This week we had pizza for 4 days straight. It is soooo hard to stay in good shape when all we eat is junk food!! haha I am excited for your cooking again mom! But then after that we went to a member’s house and had a great dinner with them. They did something really cool as a family for Thanksgiving coming up. They pinned a giant turkey cut out on the wall without the feathers. And now every night they will get together as a family and each one of the kids will write down on a feather what they are thankful for and then they will put it on the turkey. By the end of the month it will be a full turkey. The reason they like it so much is they really have to think about what they are thankful for by the end of the month because they run out of the easy little kid answers. So that was a fun idea.
On Sunday it was fast and testimony meeting. A very spiritual meeting. And the coolest part about the whole meeting is W. D. S. passed the Sacrament with me! :) He is still progressing so well. He is on fire right now. He just wants to learn everything so fast so he can start teaching his family. We had a lesson with him this week on the Priesthood and also the Plan of Salvation. He completely understood both of them. He is so Spiritual and the lesson with him went so well. The Spirit is so strong. Now if we could just get him a new job. He is in school right now to get his G.E.D. After he is wanting to go into some form of Medical technician. His hours would be a lot better. Especially for church. So he is doing amazing!

This week flew by. It was another very good week. I am learning new things every day and striving to be the best missionary I can be. I have seen so much growth in myself over the past 4 months. I am thankful for that, but I also know I still have a ton of weaknesses. Every day I will strive to be better. My testimony is very strong right now and my Scripture study is really good. Elder Puefua and I have started reading the Book of Mormon as a companionship. We started in 3rd Nephi and man it has been awesome! I am so thankful for this Gospel. I know it is true! I am thankful for all of you back home. All of the love and support you give me is so amazing. Thank you so much! I love you all very much! Have a great rest of your week and I'll talk to you soon!!

Love Elder Smith

P.S. Thank you mom and dad for the Halloween package!! :) Very yummy and everyone also wanted me to say thank you!
