Man... All I know is I am jealous right now!! :) Mom and dad it sounds like you two love birds are having an amazing trip right now. You guys deserve it that is for sure. And it sounds like it was fun hanging out with Hailey and her friend. Go and enjoy a big chocolate banana shake for me! :) Remember how many of those us kids would get in Maui. So are you only in Honolulu this trip? Probably because it is a shorter trip. That is a great go to spot where you can always count on having great weather. Be glad you didn't come down to the south. It has been really crappy weather this past week. Like it has been below 32. We had frost this morning. yeah yeah I know you are thinking "well Utah is only 1 degree" Well try adding Humidity to it and being on a bike! It is freezing!! I had to pull out all of the winter clothing again. It is crazy it is already that time of year again. I am very excited though for next summer already. So mom and dad when you guys come home tomorrow please bring back some of the great weather from Hawaii! Other than that have a great rest of your trip! Dad enjoy yourself before your surgery. I hope that it goes really well. You are in my prayers. As well as our whole family. Especially Dan and Brit. I hope the results are good for Brits mom today. Keep up the good work back home and remember whatever happens in this life is part of Heavenly Fathers plan. He is continually stretching us. That is a great thing! It is like a muscle. How do you build your muscle? Well you have to work it and when you lift things and work it your muscles tear and stretch, but after it starts to build and become very strong. So if Heavenly Father isn't stretching us constantly than we are not going to grow. I love that. He is always stretching us! :)
Well this week has been very interesting and I have found out my reason why I am still here in Houma. A ton of new things have happened. First off though Elder Puefua had Pink eye at the beginning of the week with Sinusitis (which is a sinus infection). So the mission nurse told us to stay in and let him get better. So we had to stay in 3 days straight. That kind of put a damper on things, but it was actually really good because Elder Puefua and I just talked a ton those days and got to know each other better. He is such a great kid. He is a great friend and we for sure will be hanging out when we get home. But then he finally got feeling better on Thursday, but on Wednesday I was doing some serious thinking about our area and how it just doesn't make any sense at all. So I drew up new boundaries and actually called our mission president and talked about it with him. Before we were covering West Houma while the Spanish elders were covering all of our area for Spanish and than East Houma and Cut Off. And the English work on their side has really died. So I talked with Pres and we now cover all of Houma English as well as Cut Off!! I am so pumped!! And with that it means we get a car because our area is so big and the Spanish elders bike because their area is so small now. So we got the car all switched up, but then on Friday when we were in New Orleans for a Zone Meeting I got a call from the office Elders telling me we do not have a car anymore... I was pretty upset about that... Because we have such a huge area and there is honestly no way to cover this area on bikes. The reason they took the car is because one of the Spanish Elders if you remember has that infection on his leg from the poison Ivy. So he is not allowed to bike until he is cleared. It doesn't make any sense because biking doesn't effect it at all! So we are back to biking and now covering a huge area! It is insane! So pray that his leg will heal so we can get the car back and do a bunch more work and not waste time biking. So that was a huge deal! We now have about 25 active members in our area and about 500 less active members. So a ton of work! Also we found on our own efforts some new investigators! We now have about 5 pretty solid investigators. 2 came to church. 1 of the investigators just showed up at church about 3 weeks ago and he has came every week since then! Big time blessings right there. Heavenly Father is so mindful of our needs and our desires area is so ready to bless us. It is just up to us to do the right thing then he will bless us. So this next week we both are feeling great and so excited to get to work again! We have a totally new area and it is so great! I love it!
W. D. S. is still doing so great! He passed the Sacrament again and now we are trying to get him a calling. That would be the best thing for him I think. He is also getting a lot more involved with the members. We had Brother Patten and his wife go over and visit him this week and see if they would be able to talk to his family and just be friends with them. It is cool because Sister Patten is from Japan and Brother Patten is also Asian. So W. has a really good friend now. Everything else with him is going great! This past week I was able to talk to Brother Neil from the Westbank. I don't know if you remember him, but he is awesome! A really good friend and a great member. He was the one we were able to go over and watch some football games with last year. Super awesome guy! Then also on Friday we went down to New Orleans for a Zone Meeting. We had a great time and learned some fun things. After the meeting we of course had to run to Cafe Du Mon to get some Beignets and Hot Chocolate. It was really fun. I always also able to go to our favorite store. Well at least Dave and I's favorite store. lulu lemon! Too much for a missionary budget though! :) It was a ton of fun! Our new district is awesome! We all get along so well. Today for P-Day we are going to change it up a little bit and go bowling as a district. I am excited to go get my bowl on! :) We will have a ton of fun. Probably not as much fun as hanging out on a beach in Hawaii! Lucky ducks! :)
Well church yesterday was amazing as usual. It was Ward conference and then after a big Ward potluck. We had a lot of fun and ate some good soups. Well that pretty much was my week. It was a good week. It started out slow, but ended really strong. I am growing everyday still. This Gospel is amazing. I am so thankful for it. I am also so thankful for Preach my Gospel. I heard a talk given by Elder Holland this past week and he talked a lot about it. It is designed to convert the missionary first before converting others. I truly believe this has happened with me. I know without a doubt God Lives and he loves us so much that he did give his Son. I am thankful for Jesus Christ and his sacrifice so I can be made clean again from all of the dumb things I have done and will do in my life. I know any problem we have that if we turn to our Savior everything will be alright. It is the best feeling in the world! Well family I love you very much! I am already looking forward to next week and talking with you all again. It makes my whole week! I love you guys and be strong!
Love Elder Smith
