Hey mom and dad! Dad Happy Late Birthday!!! :) I am sorry I couldn't send you off anything on your birthday... But just know I love you and miss you! I hope you had the best birthday ever!! I bet the Bronco's game was legit!! Who did they play? Was it the game that Manning broke the record for the most TD's passes? Some members told us about that and I bet you were so excited about that!
Well it sounds like a very busy week for you all as well! I am glad the Halloween party went well. Hopefully your pictures will come through so I can see what everyone dressed up as. I remember last Halloween when you sent out the video. That was awesome! Sure did make me miss you all! I am glad the house project is coming along so well. I hope the weather stays good for you so it can keep going up fast!
Mom and Jill I see you guys still have got the luck when it comes to cards! That is about to change in 9 months when I get back. You both are going down!!! Don't worry Scott and Grandma I will get them back for you. I bet the whole time both my mom and Jill were doing those little squeals they do when they get lucky. My favorite one is when my mom needs a card so she says I am going to get this card like 3 times and then picks up the card and of course it is always the card she needs!! So lucky!! Then she loves to rub it in your face! haha just kidding! :) It sounds like a fun week though full of great times. That is so awesome and that alone is an answer to my prayers. I pray for all of you every day. Keep being safe and keep living life to the fullest!! As you always say mom, "Enjoy the journey"! And keep up the good work!!
Well this week has been a very busy week. Probably one of the hardest working weeks yet for me. Since W. was baptized it gave me new motivation to be better. But it is hard to be better when you don't have any investigators at all! haha W. was our only solid one. So this week we have been dedicated to finding. We went through our whole ward roster and wrote down everyone’s name on our whiteboard. Our goal is to see everyone on that list throughout this week. Once we do we feel as if we can get some people to come back to church and also get referrals from people. After all referrals are the very best! W. was a referral. So after our 4 hour weekly planning session on Thursday we have been swamped with appointments. It has been crazy! Super good though. So that has pretty much been our week. Just full of finding and looking for less-active members. We already have found a ton of people and have found out about half of the people on our roster have moved... So that kind of stinks, but at least we are clearing it out for the next missionaries. We have about 5 potential investigators. We have set up a few plans to visit them this week. It looks to be good. They seem pretty promising.
Something fun this week was I did an exchange with Elder Southward and went up to Thibodaux for a few days. It is always nice having a little change every now and again from your area. A lot of awesome things happened while we were together. First off he has a concussion so he cannot ride his bike anywhere. He has had a car but they have no more miles for their car for the month so that left us with one option. Yup to walk! I liked it a lot. It gave me an idea of how other missions are. It was pretty cool. We ended up walking 8 miles throughout the day and then that morning I ran 2. Not too bad. We went store contacting and also college contacting. We found them some new investigators. That is something pretty cool about exchanges, every exchange I have been on we have found someone new and solid! We ran into a guy from Africa and he is progressing really well for them. When we are store contacting what we do is just go up to people and just talk. Then we somehow relate it back to the Gospel. It is a lot of fun! But something funny happened when we were at Walmart. We were walking down the aisle and a lady stopped us and asked if we still did door to door contacting. We told her yes and she said oh okay. I thought you guys stopped. We just said we do more than going door to door. She ended up telling us that in her religion they did the same thing. We asked what religion she was and she said she was a Jehovah Witness. It threw both Elder Southward and I off. Because she was so nice haha. And she didn't try and bash us like some other people we have ran into in the past. So that was pretty cool. It is funny how so many people think we are Jdubbs. Or they think we work in the store we are in. So many people have asked me where things are. I love their reaction to when I say back I am sorry I don't work here. I am a missionary though for my church. Would you like a pass along card? Every time it gets them! :)
On Friday we had a Ward Trunk or treat. It was a lot of fun! I took some pictures so I'll send them home to you today. We had a great time, but no new people came. We missionaries decorated a car and all of the kids loved it. Then before I took all of the kids and had a huge soccer game! It was legit!! I loved it. Some of the kids in this ward remind me of the Dunyon Girls. We all have a secret handshake. And every Sunday they all come running up to me saying Elder Smith Elder Smith. It just brings me back to when all of the kids back home would come running in the house saying Aloha or different fun things. So that is pretty fun!
Then Saturday morning we had a service project at our church. We pulled weeds and cut down some trees. This was my favorite day of the week for sure because from where we live to the church is 5 miles. So instead of doing my morning exercises I waited and then at 7:30 I took off running while Elder Puefua rode behind me on his bike. It felt good to run! In fact it felt so good that I kept running past the church and made it 6 and a half miles. I am excited to be able to train really hard when I get back home. I have started getting back into running though out here. It has been good. So that was pretty fun!
Well that about wraps up my week out here. Thank you for the All White package you sent! I loved it! I am looking forward to the scary surprise this week. I hope you all have a great week back home! Be safe on Halloween! Are you going to be at the house giving out candy again this year or are you going to be somewhere else in the world? Well my wonderful family I love you all so much! Remember this Gospel is true! You all are the best! And always remember to Endure to Eternal Life! I love you!
Love Elder Smith
